A: Yes you can seek age relaxation in Govt./Semi-Govt/PSUs jobs. Here is a summary of age relaxation available in UPSC, banking and railway exams. You can verify in employment notices, websites of Govt. organisations or you can seek the relevant information from concerned authorities under RTI act.
UPSC / SSC
Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated and who are not remarried(Unreserved/General) - 35 years
Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated and who are not remarried (OBC) Upto 38 years of age
Widows/Divorced Women/Women judicially separated and who are not remarried (SC/ST) Upto 40 years of age
Railway Recruitment Board
Widows/divorced/ judicially separated women
Upto the age of 35 years for UR, 38 years for OBC, 40 years for SC/ST.
Widows/divorced or judicially separated women
Public Sector Banks - Age Limit
Widows, divorced women & women judicially separated from their husbands, who have not remarried, by 9 years subject to a maximum age limit of 35 years for General / Unreserved category candidates. Age relaxations stipulated for other reserved category candidates would also be available on cumulative basis.
Good news is Government is considering various measures for increasing share of women in public employment, including relaxing age and experience limit under Public Employment (Reservation for Women) Bill, 2005.
